What is the reason you want to go from an 8 to a 7? I like the 81-85 ones myself.

most definitely. but high hp rx-8s aren't really around yet. yes, NA compared to other generations of rotary it's more powerful, but i've only seen highly modded rx-8s hit 400-415hp where we all know this is fairly easy to do in an rx-7.

sprayed civics actually don't get a lot of power from N2O since they have such high compression, unless they put in low compression pistons. it's nice to see another honda bite the dust though =D

The main reason is I was an international student and been here for a little bit over 5 years. Now I'm working here but not sure whether I should stay in the States or go home. Thus I'd like to try/drive the 7 when I still have the chance here in the States.

There are plenty of 8 around in my country and we have Mazda dealerships there who still offer the RX8, but for RX7, I think there are just very very few of them and they are hard to find.

Not to mention that cars price in my country is basically 300% of whatever the price here in US. A brand new RX8 will cost me around USD $58,000 to $65,000 2-3 years ago. And now after this bad economy period, it might be cost even more because our currency is going down again. BAD.

The RX-8 is one of the most underated cars around. This is not a car to compare only hp numbers and dragtimes. You need to auto-x the car or take it through some curvacious canyon roads then you'll really appriciate what Mazda has done with this car.

I see the car being judged on by word of mouth rather then personal experience.

I have had an rx-7 with a t78, it was fast, and the car handeld great.

And now I have an RX-8, you would be surprised what this car is capable of on a track. All it takes is a little bit of research and you can see just how great the 8 really is.

And yes the factory coils suck and are a flawed design. My car was down 20whp with bad coils, and bad coils will cause the plugs to foul. But they are not somthing to judge the RX8's reliability by. The renesis is extremely reliable. It likes oil and gas like all other rotary powered cars so that can't be seen as a negative to the engine.

I love both the RX7 and RX8 equally, they have their plus and minuses, but in the end they are two fantastic rotary powered cars made by mazda.

P.S.

An RX8 with 17x7.5 with TE-37 and Falken 235/45/17, tein springs, big anti sway bars, and only a cat back was able to hold off, (meaning he could not gain ground) the new convertable m3 (v8) on a road in nor cal called calavares.

The RX8 is very good and balanced on the twisties and can live in the 7k to 9k rpm range for long periods of time with out any sweat. And the brakes are great for a stock car.

P.P.S.

I still want another 7, they are just so damn sexy!!!!!!!!

and there you have one of the biggest reasons why 7>8

also i have driven both modified rx8s (two of my buddies, one a turbo one with mild suspension, and one with all the basic bolt ons) as well as a stock one, while they were all good cars (the turbo one was the best until it popped a seal, which mazda covered under warranty ), I still prefer my lightly modded FD

Rotaryextreme: That's why I want both of them in my garage. And fyi, we have a new redesigned coils for the 8. I just changed mine month ago. And also your explanation of the 8 says it all. It's a really nice car.
