Ontario boy with an issue
hey guys, i feel ive lurked long enough and its time to say hi. My issue comes with a back story. I picked up an 88 AE for $3500 and drove it for about a month. unfortunately I was on my way to pick up a buddy to do a brake job on it, I crossed a bridge and slid into the guard rail. Who would expect black ice at the begining of October? Anyway, you'll likely want pics so without further ado:
In my driveway: (yes i know its black, the vin says its genuine though)

On the bridge:

That thing in the back is the motor for my 600 ninja. Had to pick it up the night before so i could start work on it. Anyway crossing the bridge i was doing no more than 40km/h. There was a hump at the begining and i didnt want that motor to shatter the hatch. Alot of good that did huh? Anyway, Icy bridge + acceleration= bad. So I picked up another one recently thinking I would use the body panels to fix mine. But now I'm torn, the body on this one is better than i could have hoped, and it would hurt to harm it. More pics:

So theres my issue. considering I payed 3500 for the AE and 500 for the gxl, its safe to say that regardless my AE is getting fixed. I just dont want to have to condemn an easy restore to do it.

Thanks for the welcome.
I thought of that, however I feel bad wrecking a 10th ae, and the new one is automatic N/A. I was reading about the 5 speed swaps and it seems like more work than the bodywork would be.

ok, so i spoke to the body man, and he thinks the best bet would be to convert the automatic to standard, and put all the goodies from the 10thAE into the other one, I hate to scrap a 10thAE but the amount of work to fix the 10thAE would be more than just converting it to standard and swapping in my goodies.
