TX Not An RX Owner, But.....

Hey Guys,
The Doctor introduced me to this site and we have been communicating Moderator stuff ever since. 'Been signed up for a coupla' months now and though I don't have an RX, thought it was time to officially introduce myself.
I'm a Mod on 2 other Mazda forums, one is a direct subsidiary of this one, www.mazdaforum.com. It's a small site, but I love it. It's mine (not literally mind you) and I have made it my own, so to speak.
I have owned a 2004 Mazda3 HB (please, no "wagon" jokes) since it was new. She told me a long time ago that her name is Virgin1, hence the screen name/handle.
But this is not my first stint w/Mazda's in general.
My ex (girlfriend) bought a red base model '92 323HB when it was new and we both drove that for quite a while. A fun little car, and easy to work on.
I used to be a parts guys back in the '80's and one day had to drive from northern NJ to Philly for an MB cylinder head. The boss told me to take an RX2 wagon, bright yellow and automatic (YUCK!!!) That was my firs intro into the world of the rotary. Off idle that sucker blasted and the car handled surprisingly well too. I was impressed. A little after that, a friend's father had a later model red RX3 wagon that we used to tool around in. That one was a 4-sp... or was it 5?
Also for some time before V1 came into my life I was shopping for both second gen MX6's and RX7's. I drove quite a few of both and loved 'em but never made the deal for one.
I have always been into the smaller, sportier kinds of DD's... even auto-crossed and road rallied my old 1980 Civic way back when. I loved that car too, and modified it mostly out of my head, my research (no Internet @ that time) and what parts I could find in the junkyard. I did pretty well with it too!!
I have owned MG's, Volvo P1800's/1800S's as well as one 144S sedan, Opel's, VW's (used to fix and sell Rabbits/Golfs as a sideline in the '80's,) the afore mentioned Honda, Datsun's (YES, I said D-A-T-S-U-N) and Mitsubishi's.
I grew up and spent most of my life in sunny north-eastern Pennsylvania right on the NJ border (literally walking distance,) but have lived in Texas since early '95. I don't think I'll be moving back any time soon.
We have a small club and get-together's here in the Austin area for Mazda owners. My life here @ home and my early morning job do not allow me as much flexibility to get to meets as I would like. I am the "grand ole' man" of the group and we've had some pretty fun meets, but it has been a while for me. Most are half my age, and are going off to college and finding that life takes them places they never thought of before, so members come and members go. I try to keep in touch w/them on the forums mostly these days.
In short, I have been around cars a good part of my life in one way or another, and came to appreciate the pleasures of a good handling (if not underpowered) car long before most average American's knew anything about handling.
Here's a pic of my wife and I pulling into our first meet here on April Fool's Day 2006. And though the car has changed a lot since then, it's my all-time favorite picture of her.
