Noobie from Southern California
Hi! My name is Diane and I have just purchased my first RX7. I have had regular Mazda models before...626, my great little '92 MX3 V6, and a Protege for grocery getting. For the last several years I have been in the VW diesel scene, restoring and flipping Mk1 and Mk2 diesel Rabbits and Jettas. These cars are delightfully rust-free in the desert here and perfect for restoration and you can't beat the fuel mileage, but they can't fight their way out of a paper bag unless you do major mods. Well, I decided that I actually wanted to attain the speed limit and found a wonderful little '82 RX7 GS. What a great car!
I have a million technical questions...what is a quirk and what requires panic. Working with the VWs has made me absolutely petrified of an engine running hot...lol...darn those aluminum heads mated to cast iron blocks...and those little noises and vibrations that are not quite right usually mean something important is about to break dramatically.
I have also owned a '73 Mach I Mustang, '71 Convertible Mustang, various other Mustangs, we have a 1946 ****** CJ2A, a '91 Wrangler, '88 Mustang GT Convertible, so I am familiar with gearhead lingo, but brand new to the rotary engine.
I live in Southern California in the mountains at 3500 feet, on a micro farm (2.5 acres) and have a freaking zoo of animals. They are not allowed within 100 feet of my cars...lol. The last thing I need is a horse scratching its butt on the car!!!
I do want to use the RX7 as a daily driver, yet I do not commute or anything like that. It is a really nice find...can't wait to share!

Yay! My posts finally made it on...lol.
The more I drive this car, the more I love it. I do plan to leave it pretty stock. I will be taking some better pix soon. I hadn't realized what I was missing all this time!
Thanks for the kind words...and no, I am not from Hemet but up in the mountains from there, maybe 30 miles or so.
I would love to hear about any meets in the area...and by area I mean anything within 100 miles of Temecula (closest city to me)...love to drive!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome!!!!
