Hello, I was finishing high school when first gen RX7x first came out. I thought they were so cool. I now have one. Or two. Tore one apart this summer, learned how they're put together and am fixing up the second one this winter. It's been great fun and this site has been a wealth of information.
The best one was my illumination lights wouldn't go on. The dimmer kept blowing (i had two) and the fuse would blow when I bypassed it. Indeed, the two wires by the stick shift that aren't supposed to be connected had been. Took them apart and it all works. I did have to replace a transistor in the dimmer but all is well.

Good deal...
Yep, those two wires are for the Automatic shifter indicator for "Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, etc." They're supposed to go to a light bulb.
