Nick from WA (currently soliciting for a good name for my car)
Hello to everyone,
I'm from western WA and northern CA. I just made a quasi-impulse buy of a 1984 race car, and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm looking to get into track racing with a couple friends of mine, but it will probably take a while of me getting to know the little guy before I'd feel comfortable pushing it to its limits. See my profile for the pics I've uploaded already. If you want to see anything else on it, let me know!
I came to this forum to continue my quest for information, so feel free to tell me anything at all about these cars (chances are, it'll be new to me).
You guys probably know more about my car than I do (my first RX-7), but here's some of the information about modifications I got from the previous owner:
It's been gutted and weighs just under 2,200 pounds (have yet to verify this, but it's completely believable)
ISC Racing coil overs with 2.5" springs
ISC Racing Camber plates
ISC Racing Strut brace
ISC Racing Steering spacers
Racing Beat rear springs
Tokico Illumina adjustable shock absorbers front and rear
GSL rear axle with limited slip and disk brakes
Mazda motorsports undersize eccentric shaft pulley
Mazda motorsports four puck racing clutch
All emission control and cold start equipment removed
Carburetor prepared as allowed by regulations
2.5" exhaust with Magaflow muffler

That thing is gorgeous, love that color scheme. Don't fret too much about getting comfortable, if you start out in the hpde programs at the various tracks around here they'll slowly easy you into your comfort zone.

I think I'm going to buy some new tires and give it a try soon. The 12 tires it came with (because they were already mounted on the spare sets of wheels)are 185/60 r13 Toyo proxes ra1s but the majority of them are worn beyond usability. I read that the stock tire size is 185/70. I'm having trouble finding 60s that aren't racing tires so I'll probably just go cheap. Still need a helmet, too.
