Have recently purchased my first rotary (87 rx7 gxl) and have been browsing the forum reading and getting as much information as possible while I start restoring my rx7 project. Haven't been in a forum since about 2006 (honda forums back then) still own a civic hatchback (long term project car) the rx7 is in pretty good shape but I've got a lot to learn about maintaining an rx7 but I'm looking forward to it.
Welcome to the forum!! Your 87 definitely has low mileage and will be an awesome restoration project! Do you know any of the car's history? Does the car currently run and drive?

So I am the third owner, the first owner had it for decades till his stepson got it, (he is who I purchased from), it was last registered in 2019 if I remember correctly (I've got a stack of paperwork with the car) at the time it was registered it had a little over 52k miles. I've started it up and let it warm up, sounds healthy, dumps oil on driver side (already purchased the o-rings to the pedestal so that's on the to-do list) the driver side window is stuck down so I'll probably end up doing the fd window switch retrofit as much as I'd like to keep it with fc parts, the price difference is wild. Also if like to put an original stereo back in it and hopefully find some rear window louvers from finish line, already purchased a nose bra. I'm trying to keep this oem as possible and just enjoy it as it is 👍
It's great that you have paperwork with the car and service records! That's shows that the previous owners had cared for the car enough to save that stuff. It also sounds like you have an excellent plan to restore the car. The oil filter pedestal o-rings are a common failure and are not terrible to replace. The Mazda Finishline louvers may be difficult to source. They look great though, and are built well.
Replaced the window switches with some from ebay, bought a replacement blue armrest and the top hinges on the side not the back like my oem one smh, my mistake for not paying attention. So I replaced the base with a black one I had purchased months ago and put the blue lid on it. Now the window is back up, no more plastic bag, and the center console is complete. Next up is the oil pedestal o rings later today. From ebay Beautiful No more plastic bags over the window Broken original armrest 2 replacements I've purchased Final outcome Still need the louvers to complete the exterior
Don't mind the chain it's just keeping the shade from flying off
