Newb! Purchased an 83 Rx-7 in about March
I do want to restore this gem, but it's gonna take money I don't yet have, so I would highly appreciate links or info on how to save money on the restoration. I'm most likely gonna have to crate a motor in, and I have a spare tranny, but I'm not very trusting about that.... I need badges, paint, door panels(inside), and possibly high performance parts. Can ya help me!? I'll be more than happy to give my phone number or email or whatever and I'll post a pic as sson as I figure out how to on this site. She ain't THAT pretty, but she is all Rx-7, so she IS good lookin!

Us 1st gen guys like 1st gens no matter what they look like. You might do the work in stages to save money (or spead the costs over a longer time). I would get it running and driveable first and then worry about cosmetic stuff later. You might rebuild the engine yourself or get a good used engine to drop in for now. The transmissions on these cars usually last a long time (unless they were abused). You could rebuild the tranny, but they are pretty easy to remove later (if needed). I would clean it up and use it. It might last another 100k or 200k miles. If it does die, you can then take it out and swap for a good used one or rebuild the one that you have.
