TX New to RX7club.com and to RX7's

Hello, nice to meet everyone here, ok so as the title states I'm new to RX7's always loved them but never had one..... untill yesterday lol. I've always been a Honda guy since high school and just woke up yesterday and decided it was time to punt my civic and get something I really wanted to put the time and money into. Sooooo I picked up a 1983 Rx7, outside of a small oil leak that I havent found been able to find yet, but other than that and needing some minor interior work its in really good shape. Only thing I dont like about it is guy I got it from painted the rims gold >< but I'll just strip it off and redo a clearcoat on em. Well on to the good stuff and if this site is anything like my old civic forum everyone will want pics so here my sexy little girl.

Thanks for registering and welcome aboard! What's the name? You just missed the monthly rotary meet held at the Cheddar's parking lot of 635 and MacArthur Blvd.

It's good to see another 1stgen person join the website!

Thanks Mario, nice to meet you, and wish I could have made it to that meet, would be fun seeing some pimp rx7's and meeting the owners. And sorry about that, the names Randy, thought my first introuction didnt pass inspection cause I left my name out so I made another one >< hope theres a way I can delete the other one. Sorry in advance to the forum gods for jumping the gun on that one. So far from the posts ive been reading this sounds like a fun forum, looking forward to meeting some new people and making some new friends and picking some brains lol. So anyone have any advice for me? Im a mechanic so I know how to work on cars and test components, just wondering about what likes to break and leave you stranded so I can have a spare in the back lol. Im gonna take some better pics tommorow, spent most of today stripping the gold paint off the rims and getting the clearcoat off. Looking tons better

Ignitors and clutch hydraulics jump to mind right off the bat.

Thanks Mario, did an oil change today when work int the shop died down a bit. Managed to clean up all the oil and think my leak is coming from the oil cooler that the filter screws to. Looks like thats the only oil leak to, I had oil on top of the motor in a small pool where it says 12a and was a little worried after I read a post saying it was a dowel pin leak or something, but its still dry after the drive home and hitting redline a couple time to clean stuff up, plan on doing another oil change in the morning cause what came out was pretty dark lol. And is there a common place for the gearbox to leak? I noticed gear lube on bottom of trans, looked like the highest wet spot was the speedo cable, is there an easy fix or do I just need a new cable? or is it something internal in the gearboxx like a seal? No one in the shop knows anything about Rx7's lol, hell they were laughing when I pulled up in it, they wernt laughing when I beat my bosses 85 monte carlo ss tho lol. And I was also wondering if there were any drawbacks to cutting my cat out like in a piston engine? I know theres no valves to warp but is there something else I need to worry about b4 I cut it out? Had a chance to take some more pics today, cameras not to great sorry about quality I cant hold it still enough lol.

Now, now, this is your introduction thread and you're heading into tech material, so start a new thread over there on the questions....but I will say that I'm surprised that the oil leak at the 12A cured itself...you are horrendously lucky!!
