FL New to RX7 still green

Well, I purchased my first FD about a year ago without any idea what I might be getting myself into but I did it anyways for the love of the car. I bought a 93 silver touring. All I have to say is many problems can be disguised under a half way decent paint job. My biggest mistake was not actually looking at the car in person before buying it. Now I am 50 unfinished projects into updating and repairing the beast. I still love the car but it has given me many headaches and a few gray hairs. I have been screwed by so many shady parts dealers that don't give you advice on a damn thing and if the part doesn't fit, SOL... Now I'm starting over again on many projects trying to find the best solution to finish them to my standards. I hope to get some good advice here from some knowledgeable veterans.

thanks for the welcome, I live in Altamonte Springs and I am looking to redo my car from the ground up. I would like to make this 7 a sleek machine avoid cheezy ricer parts. When it comes to nice cars I like minimal better than flashy. I want that stock look but just enough mods to let people know its not your every day car.

Thanks for all the help bud, you have the same car but yours is much cleaner than mine. Your car gives me hope, I'm so frustrated with my paint, engine and interior. I will give 2fast a call. Thanks bud.

Welcome to the rotary club.
I've found that paying a little extra for parts/service from a professional rotary technician or shop ends up being cheaper in the long run. Sometimes generic companies that sell parts but don't specialize in our cars end up with a half *** product.

seriously, mine is pretty crappy too, so don't feel like you're alone in it.

patience grasshopper, patience

Welcome from one silver FD (93 touring) owner to another. I live in G-Ville and have had my car since 94. I've got many thousands in mine and am still spending! Be patient and be prepared for some slick mo'fo's out there ready to take some of your hard earned Benjamins. Try to get as much info about a shop as you can....do your research. This site has all the answers so spend some time on it before spending. I've had some real crap mechanics work on my car cuz they said all the right things but in the end my car was treated like crap and came out in worse condition. Find someone you can trust build a rapport with them and treat him/her well. Have a plan for how you want it to look (check out the FD post a picture thread) or run and go for it. Enjoy!! By the way those roads in and out of Disney are fantastic roads to let her loose on.

Hey, man, we're all on this magical journey together. If it weren't for these sorts of forums, it's doubtful I would have bought my FD, but a lot of common sense advise and good humour has made what could have been a costly mistake (in purchasing it) a really enjoyable and, dare I say, sociable experience.
Its "fun" reading about other people's woes, knowing one is not alone. F'rinstance, I have already had a clutch m/c and slave cyl go on me. Also discovered only one turbo working and a possible suspension problem all in under 4 weeks. As I said, it's all good, clean fun...and empty pockets.
