hi my name is Darrell and I just bought a 1988 rx7 convertible....pulled it out of a field...$900.00...got it cleaned up...installed a fuel pump, fuel filter, clutch master cylinder, so it runs and drives....hits the rev limiter at about 3500rpm but I think i can figure that out from reading on here. was thinking about selling it but I think now I will keep it and drive it...still needs some work..new top and seats recovered, but over all it is a pretty nice car to have been sitting up for 10 years...only has 108000 miles. Well anyway I look forward to learning about these cars from this site.

 

Well if its hitting the rev limiter / buzzer at 3500 rpm something is giving a bad reading.

The rev limit on a 86-88 is 8000rpm and the buzzer goes off at the beginning at 7000 rpm.

I paid 1000 for a base model that needed a rebuild and a new wiring harness.

 

check for rotting wires, im sure you will find something!
