WA New to the Rotary World

Hi my name is Spike. I have come to realize I am a Rotary addict. My first car was a 1985 Toyota MR2 that blew up for the second time one month ago. I am honestly not hard on cars the MR2 ran on 1.5 cylinders for 20,000 miles before finally giving up. The second engine I put in went for quite a while until a cold snap hit and a very important bolt broke and down my engine went. I had been debating whether or not I should sink a bunch of money into the MR2 or should I sell it for what I bought it for $450. The engine going out decided that for me and I had already been vaguely interested in rotary engines before but never thought about getting one before.

I would never be able to have a front wheel drive car and AWD is too pricy on gas and not as easy to find in manual. I wanted something that was an upgrade to an MR2 not an easy task for my budget since it had to have a RWD and a better weight balance, which left a Lotus, RX7 or a Viper. Again considering the budget it seemed like a no brainer.

So the very next day I went out and bought the first RX7 I looked at that had a few issues I was certain I could fix. It was a beauty 1988 Midnight Purple with killer low profile rims and an engine with leaky injectors I was going to get fixed and get my emissions exemption all at the same time. Well I had been driving it for less than a week and the day I was going to get the injectors fixed, I went out the parking lot and…someone stole it! Well I went looking for it reported it to the police etc. after three weeks I have just given up.

Well I was hooked anyhow just having all of that power coming out of two little rotors and I had to have another I had been looking for something I was not going to have to worry about getting stolen as much and would not have to worry about emissions. So, I had to get a 1985 or earlier and I was not about to deal with a carburetor so I had to find a GSL-SE and found one for the perfect price.

Here I am now looking forward to being part of the community since I cannot imagine having a car running on cylinders anymore.

~Spike~
