Hello............I used a 13B engine in my autocross car (SCCA SOLO 2, A Modified) back in the late 70's but have not had one since then. Now I am building a kit car that was designed by my students at Minnesota State University-Mankato in 1990. I will be using a 13B in the project and hope to get some good information here.
The first photo is of two of the original cars the students designed and built (the blue one had a 350 Chevrolet engine while the red one had a 4 cylinder GM engine). The second photo shows the parts I have had since 1992, but am finally getting around to building (with the 13B). Lot's of work to do.
Will you have a custom suspension or a production unit? I read your other post, 1,600 pounds with a 13b sounds like some ridiculous fun. Do you plan to Auto X / Track it?
Welcome to the forum! I'd be very interested in following your progress with this. Can you give us a lil back story on how the original cars came to be and what happened to them?

The chassis for the kit car was designed to use a 1975 Chevrolet Monza (or any GM variant over that designs life) for the donor car. So the front suspension used the GM A-arms, but is adapted to use aftermarket coil-overs. The rear uses the Monza axle, but has a 4-link coil-over set-up.
No plans to track it, but an auto-x (just for fun) is a possibility. Doing all the work myself, I am guessing at a 3 year build time.
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have a good plan and a great start!
What ever happened to the two cars that were built?
The red car is still at Mankato State University (now called Minnesota State, Mankato). The original blue one was displayed by the students at the 1991 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and then sold. I don't know where it ended up.

You asked for some background on my project.......attached is what I have so far
