Very happy to be apart of this awesome community and learn about these awesome machines. This car was raced in the 90s for the manufacturers championship and has been sitting in a garage for 20 years. I want to keep it looking how its does and make it a better version of such a cool and wonderful car, don't want to make it crazy, but fun like it already is. Im really looking forward to learning

Welcome to the forum!! The car looks like an 86 Sport model given the rear spoiler and GXL wheels. Do you have documentation about that car racing and who raced it? That would be an awesome car to have! How far stripped is the interior? Has the car been sitting for some time?

Thank you! I sadly don't have the documentation for the races. My friend actually found this car while knocking on doors finding cars to flip. This FC has been driven off and on and stored in a garage for 20 years after it was done being raced. My friend met the person that raced it i believe in Washington. It runs so well I just drove it all the way from Washington to San Diego after I bought it. The interior is very stripped, the only part I'm partially upset about is that the dash was cut on both sides to fit the roll cage. No carpet, no center console, aftermarket steering wheel, passenger seat doesn't have a seatbelt, no speakers or radio, no a/c, everything behind the cage and driver is all metal, no plastic or extra components whatsoever, it didn't even have a rearview until I bought another one. But there were no ADDED modifications to the car other than the steering wheel and the cage which im very very happy about, only things taken out or slightly altered for better racing, it sounds great because the exhaust is cut lol. There are a lot of little things needed to be done but overall I'm happy with it.

Do you have any plans to put an interior back in the car or are you just going to drive it as is? How many miles are on the car?

You mentioned the exhaust being cut... If the catalytic converter and split air pipe are gone, its likely the 5th and 6th ports are not working properly and the car will actually be slower because if this.

The exhaust is cut right after the split. For interior i'm not quite sure yet, I think i'm going to keep it as is and/or make it a more pleasing representation of what is already is. I really like the story that it has and I would like to make it a more pleasing "race" car on the inside but have a car show level finish on the outside since it is all stock. Especially since the interior pieces are mostly damaged already I don't want to deal with sourcing and getting all OEM pieces and/or fixing some major things that are missing or cut like the dash. 155,000 miles

That sounds like a solid plan! The car really appears to be in good condition given the age and miles. Seems as though someone did take good care of it.
