Talking New Rotary Guy in Okinawa, JP

So my name is Matt. I currently drive a 00' Subaru Legacy Twin Turbo. I been on Island since 2010 now. I decided that I was tired of AWD they arent much fun to play with. I am picking up my first ever RX7/Rotary next week. Its a black FD. Supposedly alot is done not sure yet my buddy won't tell me all that's done engine wise ( you would just have to know him to understand) Neways, car has discontinued staggered SA3R advan 18's (not a big fan of these rims however they are rareish), Coil-overs (haven't had a chance to see what brand yet, car is door to door at a lot), Full exaust and possible downpipe, and aftermarket I/C piping and Intake filter. I don't know much about the car at the moment. For $4,000 I didn't really care because road tax and JCI is included and it runs good.

I been a mechanic pretty much my whole life since I could turn a wrench. I've never done anything more than eyeball a rotary so I dont know a thing about them. So I'm here to learn as much knowledge as possible. Once my waiver is done and the JCI and registration is completed I will post pics. The car has been sitting and started off and on for about a year now So it does need some love inside and outside of the car. He is going to clean it up a bit for me but the sole purpose of this car was to have a project car and have fun with it. I hoping to meet up with some people around the Island and learn more about this fun car I'm about to have that everyone has deemed a maitnance nightmare.

Thanks,

Matt.

Hey thx man, and I'm hoping lol. Also car runs great and idles like it has a cam, I know it's not missing. Sounds like a bridge port or something? Car shakes and lopes kinda. Then you give it gas and just smoothly freely revs. So only thing I could think of is maybe ported? Sorry never had a rotary so I only know to compare it to a cammed engine sound.

@kart dude, almost a week man, and thx everyone else. And coltssr dude these rims are ate up with rust and corrosion, but me and my boy are gonna sand em down, repolish the lip, then either paint the spokes black or Takata green. I got alot to bring back on this car as with any 20 yr old car. And it doesn't help the car has been sitting a year here in the island. But I got the love to put in it and bring her back, then the real fun can start, like making the *** a lil wider .

Dyna, japan is nice but Okinawa completely different then mainland, even the car scene. Okinawa might as well not really be considered Japan other then a few thing. I've had lots of yakiniku but not that one. I like a resturanr called Try.

So an update, car came with street ported engine, rims, tein coil overs, thrust intake, down pipe, super cat and full exhaust. Re ameyia boost guage and steering wheel pod. Momo steering wheel. Os ginken double plate clutch and flywheel, and 2 way LSD and some rust here and there, and there. Not bad for 4,000$. Today I added a R Magic N1 bumper with carbon fiber canards, origin 25mm front fenders, 99 spec taillights, textured dash trim, and console, new beefy tow hook and gloss black powder coated door handles, new water pump and thermostat. New a/c Condensor will be in from Mazda in a few days. Then I can have A/C. Glad there are people parting out and selling parts in my area. Now if I could just sell my damn Subaru.

For all the people that love the RE Ameyia boost guage and pod I hate that ****, my blitz is 10x better IMHO! When I find a new guage pod at upgarage that **** is coming out. Or get my buddies Greddy set.

I agree man, the RE pod is too low, and you're looking away from the road too much to look at it, focus on it, and transition back to the road.
