New to Rotaries and new to AZ

Hey everyone, been awhile since I've belonged to a car forum, had a Z32, NA to TT swap built myself, autox and what not. Can't wait to get back into with the car events with the new project car.

1987 Mazda Rx7 GXL Blue in/Blue out, as far as I know car hasn't ran for the past 2 years, mice got in the engine bay and chewed through SO MUCH. Car cranked when I bought it, all electronics work (guy did a bunch of rewiring), which was awesome to see, 113K original miles. So I tore it completely down to a roller chassis, just going through the whole thing, repainted interior, blue to grey and black, Lizard Skin sound and thermal sprayed down; welded some patches, new this, new that, rebuilt this, rebuilt that, upgraded all kinds of stuff. My main goal was just get back to original state, as always it is getting a little bigger than original plans, 5 months in the making so far.

Moved to the easy valley in the Phoenix/Mesa area this year and immediately bought a car right after moving. Been to Wild Horse Pass Raceway a couple of times but more looking for weekly/monthly meetups.

Take care everyone.

Brandon

So many pictures, i'll just post a few of the progression.

The car in it's original form, then a little gutting a deep cleaning, car was in very good condition honestly for what it is.
Original blue carpet and doors vs the new grey with black vinyl, All plastic in the car was changed from blue to a dark grey.
This was after removing factory sound deadening, welded in patches after finding some rust holes in the floor pan and spraying the entire interior with Lizard Skin sound and thermal control.
Also refinished the tail lights, thought about going to S5 lights but just like my Z32 i like the rectangle look of the lights, hope to do an LED upgrade one day on them though.
Once the engine was out I went through replacing seals and whatnot on it and trans, also stripped engine bay, grind away the rust, protect and repaint to a soft grey.
About the only upgraded goodies going on the car for now, complete exhaust, stage 1 clutch, obviously new tires and eventually new suspension once it runs for the first time.

Looking forward to many years of autox and track days.
