New Project '86 RX-7

My name is Caleb Cooper and I am joining this forum because I will be starting a a build of an '86 rx-7 very shortly! I am from western North Carolina. I currently have a Honda Accord Wagon with some mods. I am looking forward to getting great advice from you guys. Here is my dilemma:

Alright, a friend of mine's uncle has two '86 rx-7's. Both will basically need an engine swap (I plan on putting in a v6 or v8). One has an automatic transmission with 120k, the interior is in pretty good shape. If I bought this one I would need to do an engine swap as well as a 5 speed swap and deal with the paint later. THe other one has a dented a rusty fender, algae on much of the body, a relatively ok interior and has a 5 speed tranny (unsure on the mileage). For this one I would still have to swap in an engine and i'm not sure what needs to be replaced on the tranny. I can buy either for $300. Which should I choose for the build?

Thanks for the help and I'm sure I will be asking many questions.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a new member also and i'm looking at buying an 86 rx-7 myself. as to my opinion to your question, i would consider buying the car that i could sell the parts i dont need (although im sure you already considered this)
