New PNW Member.
New member, but been around Mazda Rx-7's before. I'm dating myself here (62) My first Rx-7 was brought new at Huring (sic) Mazda (Seattle) in 1980, Sunbrust gold, to replace my aging Datsun 240Z, at the time I was Autocrossing in SCCA, and the new Rx-7 were kicking a-s, in C-Stock. So rather then try to beat them I joined them. A great car, and won the championship, that year. Fast forward what 30+ years. I had always wanted a RX-7, or Z-car, with American V-8, last year found a perfect FC, with built 302, T-5, etc. That was built by a Boeing Mech. Engineer, it has been 12years & 20K miles since he built it, So yes tried & true tested. It's a keeper for sure, and go's nicely next to my 427 Cobra, (also a keeper). Would love to find other member around the area (the other side of the sound, from Seattle) Thank you for taking time to read my intro. Cheers Tom.

Thank you Michael, been a long time since I had my last Rx-7, but found the perfect one, for my need's (auto-X, track days, etc) Question? What did you mean about posting a picture of a SA? I did post some pictures last night on the V-8 forum of my V-8 FC coupe, if you get a chance look those up, The wheels on it now are coming off, I brought a set of 88-91 BBS (For the stock sleeper look) but have to find one more cap. Tough thing to find. Cheers Tom.

Sorry Michael, I do not, I'm afraid those pictures are long gone, too bad, it was a beautiful Rx-7. Gold with gold and polished lips Compomotive wheels, no sunroof, no AC , no extra weigh. I loved that car, won the championship that year (C stock) I used to polish the back side of the rims The best Flannel car cover, etc. The Gen 2 car now gets that treatment, along with my 427 Cobra, quite a pair, of HP cars Nice to have a roof, because It does rain up here, How do I put my image up like you have? cheers Tom.

Welcome! Sounds like you had an S model 1980 in Solar Gold. Its a very unique color and was used only in 1980. I have a 1980 Solar Gold Leather Sport model that I cherish.
The FC you bought looks super clean and the swap looks to have been well executed. I'm not a huge fan of the V8 RX-7's but I can't argue their performance potential. Can't wait to see more pics of your car!

Thank you mazdadaverx713b, I too loved my Solar Gold 7, and it turned into a championship winning auto-x car. No it wasn't just a S, it was GS, it had the rear sway bar, 4-spoke wheel, etc. Your beautiful Solar Gold one brings back so many great memories. I'm 63, and owned 4cyl-6cyl-and rotary powered sports car my whole life, but back in 76 I wanted to make 72 240Z into a Scarab (327, 4speed) Wife said, "No Way" I was spending $11,500, on my $4000 Z. I would still have that car So now that's all I have are V-8 powered sports cars. The Rx-7, and 427 Cobra. Have a great one, Tom.
