New from Oklahoma
Hello all. My name is Eric.
I live in north central Oklahoma
Quick story about my first RX-7.
At the age of 16I bought a 1985 GSL that had, I think, every option except the SE stuff.
Really nice car and only had 120,000 miles on it. It was that really dark grey with the dark red leather everything interior.
About two week after buying it I was driving down the road and had it floored thinking, man this thing is all gears, no power, then it hit.... the secondaries opened up and the little car took off. Bad thing is, the throttle stuck wide open. Had to shut it down after that stupid rev buzzer about scared the s*** out of me. I was like what the hell is that!!! Well I guess the previous owner never got on it. The car was owned by an older couple.
As for mods, all I did was put the straight pipe from racing beat in place of the 3 cats and put a monza cat back system on it. Took about 30 mins of driving to blow the insides of the muffler out! Man was that thing was LOUD!! Loved it though
Fast forward two years of joyfull driving and I got married.
Had a child and decided that I needed a 4 seater. So I looked around for a way to put rear seats in place of the storage bins and didn't have any luck. So I sold it at the age of 19 with about 180,000 HARD miles on it
Worst car decision of my life, and I have owned 30-something cars. I regreted it as the guy was driving away in it.
Well here I am, 10 years later, and I have decided to buy another one.
I am currently looking at an 84 GSL-SE that is about 400 miles away from me for a pretty good price. It has 190,000 miles on it, the exterior is clean except for a dented ds fender and the paint is crap. Good thing is, I know where a new ds fender is for 40 bucks. The guy said the interior isn't bad, I'm waiting for pics to come tomorrow. Then I'll decide if i want to drive that far for it. If not, there is a couple of GSL's around here that I am interested in, but I would rather have the SE!
When I get my RX-7 I will post pics.

Finally found an RX-7 locally. Found a pretty nice 85 gs for a good price. The car sat for a couple of years due to not running very good. The guy I bought it from knew quite a bit about these motors and turned it over a couple times a month so it didn't carbon lock. The interior is really nice and so is the body. Paint is a little rough. The car has brand new tires, lower ball joints, tie rod ends and ss braided brake lines at all 4 corners. I got it home and diagnosed it and the fuel pump was bad, getting power but not running. So I replaced it and and all the rubber fuel lines around the pump. Still no fuel. So I dropped the tank and man was it NASTY. Supply and return line were completely plugged and the float assembly was frozen. Got it all cleaned up and reinstalled with new rubber fuel lines and fired up. Car runs but will die and not want to start for a few minutes. I am thinking a carb rebuild and a new tank or get my tank redone and it should run good.
