New from Michigan. driftr240sx 1st gen

Hey everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. Im Brandon, I just recently bought a 1981 Mazda Rx-7 for $400 with only 78,000 miles. It has the 12A Rotary with a 5spd behind it. I also have 1992 Nissan 240sx Coupe that will be turbo’d, hence why I bought the rx7.

The rx7 is far from being perfect. The guy I bought it from had taken it to a muffler shop because it has an exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold. Supposedly it has a 13b manifold on a 12A engine, So there is an insane exhaust leak. Well he went to pick up the rx and it idled to the moon. He couldn’t figure out why so he decided to sell it. I went to pick it up and sure enough it idled up to 6000rpms! I had a hunch that it was the carb. Sure enough the throttle cable wasn’t connected and upon further inspection the choke return spring is shot. Attempted to start her and BAM! She started and idled at 1200prms which is better the 6000…took her home.

First thing I did was replace the lights switch panel. The headlights switch could spin all the way around freely. As well as the running lights and headlights stayed on because of it. The guy I bought the car from had already pulled off a replacement from a wrecked rx7. Swapped them over and bam lights turned off and the HEADLIGHT MOTORS WORK! Only I cant figure out how the go down automatically. Tell me if im wrong but isn’t the pop ups suppose to go down when you turn them off? Is there a relay that I am not seeing? If someone can point me in the right direction where to find it or where the switch for it is it
would help.

I also removed the whole air conditioning unit. Pump, lines and condenser. There was no belt on the pump and it wasn’t charged so why not. I also couldn’t find a drain plug on the radiator so I pulled out the radiator to flush it. The fluid in the radiator look like it had never been changed….like ever… I cleaned up the carb cover so its nice and shinny…kinda.

I also have a few things I have no clue what there are one being this

It looks like a mini ECU. There is one hooked up and this one was lying in the car.

Then this, the car has a cruise control **** but it doesn’t work. And this was just lying in the engine bay. Wires are running to it and vaccum lines but just laying there so if someone could tell me what this is too

Thanks for checking me and my rx7 out i plan on posting and asking questions when i cant find them doing research throught the site.
