New Miami FD Owner
Good Day All!
My name is Javi, and local to Miami. I have been a member of this forum for quite some time, and a lurker for even longer. I recently acquired a 92 FD type r with just a bit over 49k miles and fairly clean after getting rid of my STi I owned since new.
This was my old STi, made just about 500whp and 492wtq on 93 and was dailyed.
This is the new FD. It is fairly clean, and came with all proper customs documentation and etc.
My plans for the car are to clean up the look of it, interior and exterior, some suspension work, wheels, and the reliability mods. As you can see I am into the OEM+ look. I am not planning on making much power, but to keep the car fun..for now. Not sure how long that'll last.
Looking forward to meeting some of you locals.

Welcome to the forums buddy! I am trying to figure out where that gas station is...best I can come up with is on US-1, around the Coral Gables area? I can't be sure...
I've got a black FD, LHD. We try to get some of the local FD's out to Fast Lane Friday's at Homestead Motor Speedway once a month. If you're down, next Friday is the next event. You can put the car on the track, or just park it and hang, either way it should be fun.
Welcome officially and congratulations on the FD dude!

That being Friday the first? If so, I will unfortunately not make it as I will be out of town. Glad to see theres a few of you that get together. Anything before then?
Thank you, it has been a long time coming.

South Miami! Exactly. I recognized that wall that’s ok the east side of US-1.
I dont know if there is anything going on before that. Honestly, we aren’t that active down here but the more people in the scene the more chance we have of getting organized and hanging regularly so by all means joins us for any and all events. If you want, text me and I’ll let you know what I’m doing and what I’ve heard is going on.

Nice car! I remember seeing it for sale on the Miami craigslist. If you don't mind me asking, did you finance the FD? Trying to figure out how to go about it as my local credit union doesn't want to lend on an Imported JDM vehicle. they don't want to lend on a USDM FD either unless I pay upfront for a vehicle appraisal first.
I'm also coming from the Subaru crowd. Just don't own an FD yet, still looking for the right one!

I know you weren’t asking me, but I financed my FD two years ago through a bank called Lightstream. You will need good credit but if you've got that, you should get the loan.
I financed $18k with a 4.5% rate and I pay $356.xx per month for 60 months.
To me, it was a small price to pay for my dream car. I’d recommend you go that same route because credit union’s are iffy about older cars.

Happy Thanksgiving All.
I did not finance it, and unfortunately other than a personal loan as Brilliant mentioned, I am unsure how you would be able to finance it.

It’s a risk to finance an FD, and I wouldn’t recommend you do it unless you can truly afford the payments but to me, it’s sound decision making so long as you’re buying a quality car. In my case, I bought a 47k mile, one owner car. If you’re buying a car with 150k miles that’s been passed around more frequently than your drug addict wife, then you would probably pass on that one if you’re financing, right?
Consider this: barring catastrophic engine failure, the FD will be worth more when you’re done paying for it, than what you bought it for. And if you don’t pull the trigger now, you may never own one because that value is only going up and that was another huge factor in my choosing to finance.
I think financing is a good decision so long as you don’t rush into it and pick the right car.
Didn’t mean to hijack your thread though man...carry on.

Lol eh, drug addicts and car enthusiast's are very alike in the expense margin I would think.
Financing anything is really a risk when it comes down to it, the lower the interest, the more it makes sense, What Brilliant states regarding the one owner car is very true. Unfortunately there are not a lot of gems out there anymore. I am shocked at some of the things people have done to cars when browsing online.
The values of FD's are increasing, quickly. One of the same reasons I have decided to purchase a dream of mine since I was a kid. Now that I have it, I am at a very odd state. I feel as I am more content with the car as opposed to happy? Maybe once I make it more towards my liking that will change, though I am truly unsure.
Thank you Mistersty, the car itself is "virginesque". There isnt much on the car other than the below, and was fairly clean with 49k miles. The odometer was verified by jevic in japan as well and came with all customs paperwork/documentation.
Blitz Air Filter
Blitz Nur Spec Catback
Bosch Boost Gauge
HKS Turbo Time
Momo Steering Wheel
Enkei K95 wheels.

Ya Javi..they are alike but at the end of the day the guy either has a car that runs or a garage of parts..But that beats the alternative of being a brain dead waste of skin that can double as a lawn sprinkler when he drink fluids! (think about that one..keep going...Syringe..GOT IT!)

Hey Guys, I just got back from a trip out of the country. Sorry I couldnt make it. We need to attempt to get something simple going for us all to get together, Love to meet, and share everyones thoughts and tastes.
I have been busy the last few days since I got back. Ordered some interior trims to clean things up a bit, new head unit for the creature comforts, coils and wheels, and now shortly tires..as soon as I figure out best sizing for my liking. Wish we could try on wheel setups like we do shoes lol
