Hey there everyone. For my first post I guess I should introduce myself. My name is William, my interests include, skateboarding, being a rotard, and pleasing the girlfriend. I am currently apprenticing at a chrysler dealership in my area, and have been since fall of 2012, Working my way through trade school with the help of my employers. I am the proud owner of both a 2007 RX8 and a 83 RX7. Ive owned the rx8 since the fall of 2012, and the owner of the rx7 since the spring of 2013. I picked up the RX7 for $500, which I thought was a steal seeing as the thing was in mint condition, the only rust on the entire car was on the right rear quarter panel maybe the size of a golfball. The frame, pinch-weld, foot wells, floors and every other part of the car was rust free! As soon as i got it home I dropped the oil, changed the filter, and hooked up a battery (well we tried). As soon as I hooked up the negative terminal, I smoked out my little fusible link box (drivers side strut tower) so I knew something was wrong electrically (which explains why he sold me the car without a battery) so anyway, My father (to my surprise knows a fait share of electrical) help me narrow out a boatload of shorts due to the heap of stereo wiring. The previous owner went speaker crazy and did not know what he was doing. So we ripped all the unneeded and unwanted wiring, popped some new fusible links in, added a touch of fresh fuel, swapped the plugs and leads, primed the carb (webber side draft) a wee bit, placed the battery in (passed the smoke test this time) and BAM, the unknown milaged 12a started right up! I drove it occasionally for the summer and parked it. while its parked i managed to pull the motor and tranny out as I have plans to swap 13B of some sort into it (preferably one of the turbocharged persuasion), repaint it (the paint was horrid) and make it as clean as possible. Its an ongoing process as with anything in life. Anyways thanks for the read, Ill keep you guys posted take er easy!
