Just introducing myself: After owning a '79 and '81 some 25+ years ago, I have finally gone back to my roots. I recently purchased a silver '85 GS barn find. After changing all the fluids, plugs, wires, belts and giving her some new Toyos I've put about 300 glorious miles on her. My favorite part of this car is the horn. I had forgotten how much that horn sounds like an old man saying "get off my lawn." No, not really my favorite part. Mostly a Sunday driver for me. I don't see a lot of RX-7's in San Antonio, especially not FBs.

I'm traveling this weekend, I'll post some picks of her next week. Not a literal barn find, but was in a garage with original Yokohamas DOT stamped (335). Needless to say I got some new rubber on those wheels, pronto. They were in amazingly good shape for the age but they squealed badly when you lightly put on the brakes. The guy that owned her is a collector and he had a few other nice cars sitting next to it. He bought the car new in 85 the same year his son was born and being such a practical car for a new family he didn't drive it much. From 2000 to 2019 he added about 700 miles, probably most of those were round trippers to the inspection station. In total there is now 5800 miles. He is getting on in his age now and is liquidating his collection. I couldn't pass up the chance to buy a car that looked like a pristine version of the one I bought for $900 in 1990. Now, All I can do is look at that smog pump and the rats nest and think about modding the carb... there is a racing beat exhaust listed on FB market I've contemplated purchasing... but I think I am obligated to keep this one original even suffering the 9 second 0-60. I'm bitten for sure and I am contemplating buying one in a little less pristine condition to do everything these cars want done to them.
