NC New member, North Carolina and potential buyer

Hey, my name is Kevin. I know the basics when it comes to cars; changing oil, tranny fluid, diff fluid, brake pads/rotors, brake fluid so on and so forth, but I'm relatively new to rotaries. I understand all the theories behind it and have had an 05' RX-8 for the last 2 years. It's bone stock andI regularly autocross and do reasonably well.

My reason for joining this forum is because I am in the process of possibly buying a streetported 12a 1st gen in the next few weeks. I'll probably be able to pick it up for about 1,800. From the 2 pictures I've seen the engine bay is very clean and the interior is all factory and in good condition.

I should be going to check out the car hopefully soon and want to know any specifics I should look for or ask the guy about before I seal the deal.

Just $1800 for a clean, straight body, good interior and a good engine is way, crazy low. One of the three items I just listed would need to be seriously compromised for just $1800....and a streetport, to boot? If you can check "yes" to all of the above, it sounds great! Now, are you keeping the 1stgen also because it really sounds like you're just trying to get that engine.

Nonetheless, thanks for taking the time to register, Kevin, and good luck with the acquisition! I've got a couple of 1stgen RX-7's myself and an authentic Rotary Performance Big Street port 12A on an engine stand myself!

If I do get it I will definatly keep it. I love the way the 1st gens look and while I wasn't really in the market for one, when this offer was sprung on me it was something I couldn't turn down.

<<sniff>> It's been a long time since I've read such wonderful words. I, too, love the look and design of the 1stgen RX-7, especially the '83 which had the classic sportscar interior, all rounded everywhere, with the modern 0.32 aero body. Though I kinda wished it had the SA tail panel sometimes.
