Hello.
I'm here mostly to read things as I've gotten it in my head that a 5 lug FC shell and a SBC might be worth looking into for use as a drift car since my S14 is more geared to HPDE / road racing than it is drift events.
Switching out Diff's / springs all the time depending on what kind of event I'm going to gets to be a real pain. It is also a limiting factor in the number of events I get out to, so maybe this will help resolve that.
Best regards,
-- Steve.

Thanks for the welcome!
I've still got a fair amount of studying to do as to what models / trim levels are best to target in my search, and what I'd need to change out / what stock bits I can sell off with each option for this application.
Fortunately the FAQ's and other reference threads look like they'll answer the majority of my initial questions. I just need another couple posts before I can do more reading in the V8 section to really get into a decent feasibility analysis for what I want to do / how much I might need to budget for it.

Myself,I chose the 1986,as it doesn't have any emission testing(up to 1987 here),so I modified the crap out of it!It is a street vehicle...so far.
If you are just looking at the chassis for track, then I would choose the S5(89-91) style. It looks a little more smooth on the front end..in my opinion it would be 'sexy' drifting that style!

Part of me wants something 87 or older because I've always wanted a car as old / older than I am. As for looks, I figure I'll be smashing the poor thing into walls on the reg, so I won't agonize much over it's factory appearance.
We don't have emissions down here, in southwestern VA so that's not a concern thankfully. I may not register / title it initially as I'm thinking it's going to be a longer term project. Now if I choose to daily drive it on the stock motor for a bit to free up cash, then it gets tags.
