Hello everyone my name is Anthony Toledano and I joined this club to get advice and suggestions regarding the 86-91 Rx7 fc. I currently do not own one but trying to buy an fc, preferably an 89-91 but I'll be happy with whatever I can find. I currently live in Olathe Kansas and autocross a 1991 Acura Integra in the Kansas City Region SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). I've been autocrossing for about 4 years, placing 1st in class locally, 3rd in midwest divisonal events, and competing at the SCCA solo national championship in Lincoln Nebraska. I want to say that I've gained many skills handling a fwd car but have never owned a rwd. The Mazda rx7 fc definitely has me intrigued and there's no other car out there that can change my mind. I'm currently looking at getting an 89 gxl shell from a local seller although I have some worries about the car trying to be engine swapped to a 3800 supercharged engine. Owner of the 89 gxl cut out part of the firewall and damaged the cabin harness. Now I dont know much about Rx7s or Rotarys so I'm unsure if buying this car would be a good idea. I've attached a few pictures of the gxl model I'm looking to buy. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do have lots of local help around that know rotarys extremely well. Charlie Clark- has been an SCCA member for Kansas City for 55 years. He owns a first gen fb that's built for roadracing and personally produces performance parts for the rx7s as well as having tons of spare parts, engines, transmissions etc. I have made up my mind I strongly beleive once I attain an fc I will be taking it to Charlie personally to help me build my first road race worthy rx7! I am willing to travel a far distance if the price is right and the car is worth the trip. I cannot wait to be in the driver seat of a high revving, well balanced, cornering spartan of a car like the one and only Mazda Rx7!!!
I wouldnt buy that car as it looks like a basket case. If ive learned anything over the years, its to hold out and buy the example you really want. Itll likely be cheaper in the end and youll be much happier.
