Definitely two different beast. The FD is such a raw sports car while the 8 in comparison does have a bit of refinement, less raw. Of course the power difference can be felt, i do still enjoy the linear acceleration of the 8 and there is a confidence level with that. With the FD, you still have confidence of the handling but definitely feels like a nice little race car when you let it loose. Two different beast and enjoying both :P

Both have differences, also both have strong points and weak points
You have RX-7 and RX-8, so you can enjoy both types!
It sounds sooo nice!!

I don't have FD yet, but I heard RX-7's maintenance is very difficult and expensive
Is it right?
Do you think that RX-7's maintenance is more difficult and expensive than other cars?

Wow!
Do you know Initial D?
I like it very much!
I came to like FD because of this manga
Is it famous in your country?

Now the number of street racers decrease because young people in Japan aren't interested in cars
Takumi and Itsuki took a drive license as soon as they were 18 in Initial D
But many young people don't even take a drive license now

I've seen so many beautiful japanese cars. I think that the biggest reason is the shaken exam. Japan is very strict about rust and oil issues.

I have seen a few "clunkers", but they still look amazing compared to our clunkers.

As far as the maintenance on an fd...they can get expensive depending on how they have been treated. I would imagine that you could find a decent one for a good price in japan as I've seen litterally tons of them every time I visit. As seina said the fc is becoming more rare in japan and I've only seen one first gen... so good luck finding one of those...

Welcome to the forums! Hopefully you will get your 7 soon, I hear they are pretty cheap in Japan for an FD, possibly could get one for 4-6k? Well just from some people I've seen buy some over there for that price. Initial D is very popular in the states, and I'm still waiting for more episodes in stage 5 lol. I have also been told Japan's youth doesn't have much interest in cars and that's a shame, but there is always going to be people to keep it alive in Japan. Hopefully one day i'll get to visit Japan, just got to get over spending 1k on a plane ticket lol. Good luck finding your rx7, oh forgot to mention maintenance for my FD isn't bad at all. If your lucky to find a pretty mint rx7 there easy to take care of.
