New member Introduction
Hello
I'm new, obviously, and was just given a 1979 rx7 from my dad. He bought it new in 1978, was on a waiting list to get it, I was 12. It needs moderate work to get it up and running, then off to the body shop hopefully. I drove this car as a teenager, wrecked it twice and dad kept it running. He's put $5K into the engine and suspension and interior over the past few years. I'm an Engineer but not a mechanic so I'll be looking for some help from this site. My 18 year old son wants to help me with it too... pretty cool.

My first car show that I went to in 1990, I saw 2 of my dream cars, at the time.... I saw an rx7 but was always partial to the 1g. I saw the first TEL (talon, eclipse, and lasers) 23 years later, I now have a talon, laser, rx7 and rx8. I gave the talon to my daughter and my other daughter turned 16 and will try to get her a talon as well. They love rx's too.
I am a 'shade tree' mechanic and have learned a lot over the last 3 years tinkering with my laser as it is my race car but, the rotary is somewhat new to me. I understand how it works but, never worked on one and not used to carb cars in general. I may be able to help you out some on your car but if not, I know someone who can. Congrats on the car and keeping a piece of timeless art.
