Hello Rx7 Fam,
With this being the new member section, I felt compelled to share my journey to the site. I recently joined the forum in search of my 4th child (the other three are actually human). I've always been a gearhead and in my early 20's had an 05' STi. Like most, I couldn't leave it alone. It was a great car, but life events happened and I sold ol' girl after about 3 years. It was also a magnet for tickets, I paid somewhere in the range of 10 front license plate tickets over that three-year span, I even had a cop give me grief for the stock HID headlights. Back then, if it looked like HIDs then it had to be aftermarket. Anyway, recently, I've been in the position to start looking for my new addition. Time, money, space, are all factors and I have a little of all to give to my next project. So the search began! I was first looking at Supras, yes I know, l know, but that targa top, I'll say no more. The price of a 4th Gen Supra has exploded in recent years and I just couldn't justify the cost. I looked at STis, but, that was in the past and I wanted a new challenge. The Rx7 has always been a car I was fascinated with, its like no other. I remember when I saw an FD in person for the first time, I was walking out of my local 7-Eleven and there it was, parked right in front, I almost dropped my nachos, (that I just spent several minutes loading up with fake cheese and chili, yes you know what I'm talking about kids from the '80s) as I walked right into the outside trashcan. She was a thing of beauty and even as an adult I remember it like it was yesterday. This and a number of events through the years lead me to join the Rx7Club in search of an FD to call my own. After a few months of searching, I kept a close eye on cars coming on and off the market, then, it happened, a Red 93 Rx7 with 58k original miles, clean title and owned by a fellow Rx7 enthusiast become available for purchase. After some negotiations not only with the owner but my wife (she got a new pool out of the deal ) we came to an agreement. Like any car that is more than 25 years old, it doesn't come without blemishes, which I am ok with, over the next 6 months I plan to make it my own. A few pics and a list of upgrades are listed below. This community has been great so far, I've reached out to a few vets and they were extremely helpful, I am excited and grateful to be a member of this what appears to be a tight-knit club of Dorito lovers.
Cheers!
