Yo,
I started to gain more of an interest in RX-7's more specifically the FD, I've always been a Nissan fan boy at heart, but have always been fond of the rotary motor. I have a few friends who own FC's and I think they are great cars as well. Anyway, I moved to Japan recently, and I am currently saving up to buy a car, probably 6-7 months down the road I will have enough money (unless I cheap out and buy an evoIII for a couple grand). I'm originally from Denver, CO and my car back home is under the care of a good friend. If you couldnt guess, my car back home is an S13 240sx with the silvia front end. Well, I hope this place can help me on my quest for knowledge.
****in advance...please dont ask me to locate parts, i live quite far from any of the good used parts stores, and i dont have a car yet, so carrying stuff like bumpers on a train or bus is a pain in the ***, if locate interesting things that are not available in the states and are easy to carry, i'll post it in the for sale section****

i'm an english teacher actually. so no affiliation with military, and my most of my family is in either the US or the Philippines.
Even if i dont get an RX-7 out here, this forum seems rather interesting. I used to frequent the 240sxforums, i just about a year before the "big drift bang" hit the states, then i stopped posting and going to that forum all together, too many former civic "racers" goin into the drift scene

That's cool; was planning on doing the same thing but due to the fluctuation in the ecomony, it was kind of hard to get a good steady job there. Plus, I'm still learning :P
Some of the friends I have there tell me most of the young folks in Japan aren't into cars like they use to be 10 years ago. I know in the big cities, the only thing you see are people carriers, vans, cubes - small family cars really. One guy I knew said he got a traffic light ticket - cost him $800 USD. Kinda expensive... bleh. I'm actually planning to go again for the weekend before Christmas.

Do you speak fluent japanese?
I remember a while back they were trying to recruit people who had a college degree and some teaching experience without even knowing japanese.
Seems really difficult to get around in some of the rural areas.
I almost did this a few years ago....until i met my ***** exgirlfriend.

i live in japan and have no money right now...unless you live in japan and are willing to take payments...cant do it
i speak enough japanese to get around, though my boss has been here for around 8 years and cant speak a lick of japanese
i you can speak simple japanese (and comprehend it when it's spoken to you) then you can get around fine in rural areas.

but really on many of the mt passes you can see tire marks from drifters, pretty cool, but the gutters in my area have NO COVERS and are really deep, so one mistake can end up VERY costly to any car
