Hi. I just joined the forums to start doing research on a good track car. I am looking around for a good project car to turn into an endurance race car to race in the 24hoursoflemons race. I can only spend $500 on car, engine, suspension, and trans. So, price is a consideration but there are ways to get creative. For example I can sell the entire interior and glass to get the price back under $500.

I just did the race in a Porsche 944 and we got passed like crazy. That car didn't have enough power and upgrading it cost rediculous $. Plus, the maintenance on the 944 is insanely complicated and doing anything is a PITA as that car was not designed with maintenance tasks in mind. Just changing a clutch takes 12 - 16 hours of labor, not to mention a $400 clutch disc...

Anyway, my initial question is this - Can I get 200 hp from a free flowing and mildly ported NA motor that will last 12 hours of hammering? If I could make 200 hp from a NA engine reliably, I think that would be enough.

Thanks in advance.
