FL new member

Hi All. I'm a new member recently relocated in Punta Gorda Florida. I have a 1987 RX7 Turbo. Have been its only owner and have 63000 miles on it. Any suggestions for a body shop to repair body and repaint car would be appreciated.
Thank You
Mark

Welcome to the forums. Always nice to have an original owner find there way here. Do you just want the car repainted or a more thorough restoration? You won't find many (if at all) places that specialize in Rotary restorations. As far as paint, even that has become more difficult in the past 10 years. Not that many young guys wanting to get into the trade. Generally, it doesn't pay as well as even being a mechanic.

Body shops in general are having a hard time finding people who want to put in the effort, let alone have the desire and talent to excel at exacting nature the work. More and more, established shops are concentrating on insurance type of work. Replacing fenders, doors and such. Repainting a whole car takes some time and work and they just aren't able to make the same money compared to the higher volume crash damage repairs.

Either way, its best to look at what's around your local area. Talk to guys at cars and coffee, see who they know of and go pay them a visit. Look for how many people they employ, ask about what type of work they do and talk to some of their previous customers about their experience with the shop if possible. It won't be cheap either, a quality job just isn't. You can probably figure around 10K for a full repaint. The cost of paint and supplies just keeps going up all the time.

A full repaint is considered restoration work and is something done more from the heart than the head. Too often, the costs put you above what the car will be worth once done. But I completely understand the desire to have it done anyway.

Welcome to the forum! I would love to see pictures of the car and hear about your purchase experience and how the car has treated you over the years!
