New to the mazda scene! Pennsylvania

Hey guys/girls, my names Charles Shirey, but you can call me Charlie, Chuck, or Charles. That's entirely up to you. I am by no means new to mechanical work or body work. I have also done a lot of fabrication work. I am coming from the Honda scene. Not really by choice or from getting a bad taste, however due to an awesome opportunity. I just picked up an 85 GSL 5 speed, super clean. For 150 bucks. Sadly it has no engine, trans is there though. Im sure some of you purists may dislike my next statement...I plan on putting a Ford 302 in it, carb not EFI. Car has dark grey interior in good shape. Anybody want that trans and driveshaft? Motor swaps are a no big deal, I've done over 22 Honda swaps, and a few domestic cars as well. I am 21 years old and a heavy equipment operator. If anybody could possibly text my cell to talk about some stuff as far as suspension goes to deal with the v8 swap that would be awesome. Car will be used either drag and drift, or both. Or one or the other haha. Or PM me here its whatever. Thanks

Chuck, welcome to RX-7 Club and thanks for registering despite what you're doing in the engine bay.

For sure, the car's going to be great for drag racing and pretty much that's it. You'll need to start an actual tech question thread in the New Member Tech section for more details but I have some pics of engine location of the Ford block and also did a bunch of research with GRM's $2000 races that pretty much showed how the balance was killed with a V8 in a 1stgen RX-7. Now, the 2nd and 3rdgen RX-7's actually liked the transplant with a 2ndgen actually winning the whole show one year with the V8 transplant....but not so with the 1stgen...all the cars were uncompetitive with V-8's.

NONETHELESS, thanks for saving a 1stgen RX-7 from the crusher and glad to see you found us!!

Mario III

ps. can u tell i have some opinions on this subject...
