New to Mazda, New to Rotaries
Hey guys and gals. I'm here because I just bought my first mazda, an 84 RX-7 GS. Yes. It's a base-model 12a carb'd RX. I love the fb body style and I love the way a carb'd engine sounds, so this just made sense to me
Here are some pictures of my baby, the first day I went to go look at her:
Here's the good: She's 95% rust free, The engine and tranny are strong, brand new tires, and... thats it. haha
The bad: Every suspension bushing has to be replaced. Thinking about the Energy suspension set? Brakes feel spongy. She stops, but it takes a bit. Exhaust has a leak. Sensors-some god, some bad. I gotta pull em and figure out which is which. Springs are rusty as hell and probably should get replaced. All the door seals are bad and need to be replaced. That applies to the hatch seal as well. The clearcoat is faded and scratched, but its still there!
If only there was another car that had all the bits I needed....
Oh wait! There's another car that will hopefully be sitting in my driveway soon. Its an 84 GSL with all the options (power windows, locks, and mirrors, sunroof, brand new header and exhaust in the box, 1 year old tokico springs and struts, and fresh door seals Unfortunately the rust on the rockers is far beyond repair and there is no hope of this car ever getting back on the road. So it will be stripped of all usable parts and sent to the scrappers. I'm taking the glass, the interior, brakes, suspension, and thats about it. I'll switch the parts over to the good car and put the bad parts on it. I know this is a long post, but thanks for reading guys!
