New Here - Potential FD Buyer

My current toy has been a ton of fun, but I am getting an itch to learn something new. I have always loved the FDs, but don't know that much about the specifics or about rotaries in general. Looking to do a ton of research and to potentially purchase. Looking for something that I can take to car shows/meets, but also rotate track time between my other toy.

I found one locally, but I am not sure if it is a good buy....

Let the research begin!

Welcome, I am sure if you post a link to the car people here will be happy to give you their opinions. One thing I will say is that the FD is a very very rewarding car to own.

There are various sections that you can search yourself to obtain info on what to look for when purchasing your car.
It however will not be found in the NEW Member section as it is INTRO and Tech questions ONLY.

Take you time, read up and get an idea as to what others have and base your decision on that.
Buying a Rotary is your decision and all here will just about jump out of their skin to say buy "that"..BUT they do not control your money..YOU DO.
That is why we also state that no "should I get this car" questions be asked in the NEW section as your Financial status is nobody's business but your own and should not be influenced by a bunch of Biased RX owners!!
Your decision,your money.
Good luck to ya.

From another new FD owner, good luck! I would research reliability mods, especially improved cooling. I would also make sure you research and understand exactly how the engine and sequential system works, it will be very helpful in troubleshooting. I come from miatas, and it's easy and cheap to just throw parts at a problem with a miata, but that will get very costly with an RX, especially as oem parts become scarce.

This is an excellent forum, plenty of rich and detailed content from a very passionate community. I'm very happy with my purchase.

With some good starting info on here, I decided to make the purchase. I am pretty excited to learn this new vehicle and more about Rotary motors in general.

I am hoping I got a decent deal on this car. It needs some small things and a little bit of love, but so far I really like it.

93 Touring Model
Original Rotary with no rebuild
2 owners before me - CA car originally
90,000 miles
And a bunch of mods that you guys probably know more about than me

A lot of people would like to take the Slingshot off of my hands. It has been a fun toy and surprises a lot of people at the track.

People don't seem to understand what 300 whp and 1700lbs means.... ha
