KY New guy from northern kentucky

I'm an eighteen year old currently living in the northern kentucky area. I attend NKU for college and am studying computer science.
I just currently purchased a 1987 Mazda RX-7 SE.
My first encounter with this car, being that I am Japanese, is when I first watched the anime "Initial D". Where both the FC and the FD, as well as other well known drifters like the AE86 and S2000, were used for the show. I fell in love with the FC and FD, more of the FC because for some reason I prefer the boxy looking ones (I also love the Nissan 240sx s13 XD, and don't get me wrong, if I could get an FD within my budget, I so would lol). But to be honest I never really understood the significance of rotary engines. Until my father bought the Mazda RX-8 R3. That thing is a beast.
But anyways, I loved the feel of the rotary engine, it just produces a different sound and feel compared to the V6, V8's out there.
So when I was presented with the opportunity to purchase an FC, I was excited.
The problem was was that after I purchased it, went to pick it up, and took it home. Something went bad with the clutch. I posted a forum under the technical problems if you would like to tip in on what you think XD. But I don't plan on betraying this FC. Yes there is alot of work to be put into it. The underside, and sideskirt areas are beginning to rust. and there are bits and pieces that have paint chips, the window seals are worn out, right bottom corner of the windshield is cracked, seats are worn out (driver side is torn), radio reception is bad, and etc. There are too many problems to list lol.
But I have looked through this website and have found it useful, and I will probably continue feeling that way as long as I own this FC. This site is well organized and well maintained with minimum hate and alot of tips and help. I used to own a Contour SVT, and was/still am their website, contour.org. Their site was also like this one with helpful information with none of the hate bashing. And I really respect that in a club/fan site.
Well, I'm glad to have become a member of this site and hope to get many tips and hopefully in the future, I will be the one giving tips and suggestions.

Hello Byako and welcome, I'm also from NKY and attended NKU, unfortunately don't own a RX anymore but still thinking of getting a FD, right now I have a BNR32 skyline, its nice to know there are still some in the area with a nice choice in cars. If you need any help with anything feel free to shoot me a PM, I'll be more than happy to try to help since I am local to you.

Welcome Byako. You have now entered the world of rotories. Which is both a passion and a pain in the ***.
You can learn alot of stuff on this forum about dealing with anything rotary, but unfortunately sometimes getting an answer is a pain. Too many individuals on here think they know everything and you are committing the worlds worst sin by asking a "simple" question.
Anyway, alot of the problems you described are typical for a 22 year old car. There are several different places to look for replacement parts. Some not as bad as others.
I'm also in KY(Richmond). I do most of my own work and what I don't do, I've got a friend who does everything rotary. Need any help, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.
Good luck with the car.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! You'll probably hear from me often because there are a lot of things I am unfamiliar with and need advice one. I have a quick question for my fellow kentuckian friends lol. Do you guys have any reliable shops that I can take my car to? preferably one that I can trust and are familiar with rotaries...

I'm not familiar with the area you're in as far as shops. To the best of my knowledge, the only shop that I know of that has any major rotary knowledge is in Lexington. They used to be called Rotary Connection, but changed names. I'll have to get the name. My friend used to own a shop that specialized in rotaries and imports, but he closed. He still does alot of work on the side. The only guy I trust to work on mine. There is also Chris Ludwig. But he's just across the river from Louisville in Indiana.
