most reps in san diego and la will allow modified exhaust as long as you have the cats. but if your car is not properly maintaned then you will have a problem passing smog.

ex. check engine light / your missing 1 of the 50 billion catalytic converters that the rx7 is known for having.

yea i already know some people who smogs but they are tellin me how the cops are starting to crack down on them and give them more attention now. if they would pass you they would charge you 3 five star prostitutes and penthouse suite with a bottle of crystall. so im hoping i can find a cheaper or better alternative. also looking at some of the forums on passing smog, i see everyone saying they passed kept their downpipe on and running one high flow cat. dont you fail visual automatically? also in my custom welded 3inch high flow cat/midpipe the high flow cat is made of stainless steel instead of the normal ceramic catalysts which should withstand more heat. i forgot which thread i read it from but heard if you have a steel cat that can stays cooler longer than the ceramic cat doesnt need the air pump to to be connected (that is IF they let you slide on the visual).

most car shops have their own 'smog guy' who pass some of OBD-1 cars with unknown CEL problems. sometimes all they need to do is to fax some papers and BAM they'll pass your smog in a minute. but then you have to know these guys pretty well to get them to do it for you.

3 five stars prostitutes and penthouse suite with a bottle of crystal sounds about right LOL
