NC New Guy From NC

whats up rotards. my names Ryan. im originally from southern california but i joined the Air Force and they decided they would rather have me on the other side of the country. im new to rx's but not the car scene. ive had an army of hondas, 5 s-chassis, 4 mustangs, a camaro, a few trucks, and 3 motorcycles. ive always wanted to get into the rotary game but im not gunna lie, theyve always been kind of intimidating. but i finally ending up in it. i started with a non running sa22c 1980 rx7. lil 12a carb'd. i paid 100 bucks for it. got it running in 30 minutes, painted it, reinstalled the interior, and sold it for 1000 dollars. i then went and picked up one my my dream cars( not quite the right model i wanted but i picked it up for a grand so im not complaining). its an 1986 FC3S base model. 13b na with a minor bridgeport(not sure what that means just yet), and fresh paint....thank god because it was resprayed black because it was originally red with red interior, but the black and red interior looks good. all ive dont to it thus far, is full 2.5" exhaust, intake, egr delete, aftermarket tach(stock one didnt work), aftermarket oil psi gauge( stock one didnt work), MOMO steering wheel adapter hub, NRG quick release, 5Zigen N1R steering wheel, and tein lowering springs. coilovers and wheels coming soon, but its 4 lug open diff and still has the dtss bushings. hopefully i wont get in trouble for posting pics but heres a few of my 100 dollar rx7, my fc, and my stance project.

Heres the sa22c the day i got it:

Heres the FC:

after i traded my aluminum hood for a aluminum TII hood

and heres my non rotary

Bridgeport is a really sweet port.

Does it have a lot of power?

You must have something special in that engine, rotating assembly is only balanced to do 8000rpm on 86-88

i know its not the original engine, i was able to track down the persont that owned it like three people before me and he said the vin matching motor blew up, he pulled it out, replaced it with another motor and was going to build the old one for boost but just never got around to it. when this one blew up he pulled it out, had a minor bridgeport done at the same time the motor was rebuilt, had stronger apex seals put in and then reinstalled it. according to the odometer that was only about 16k miles ago. i personally know the last 3 owners of it and it didnt get driven much but i dd it now lol

It could have s5 rotors in it (89-91) , lighter and higher compression.

What mods does it have?

If you have an safc you should get it dyno tuned, then you'll make even more power as well as know how much you're making.

lol....if it does that damn thing is hidden and i wasnt told about it lol. as far as performance wise its got, some type of injectors, walbro fuel pump, minor bridgeport(whatever minor means), tomei fuel pressure regulator, racing beat 9mm spark plug wires, full exhaust(minus manifold) and intake, and egr delete. its a fairly low mileage engine...

upon further research and tearing into my car i found out what mods it actually does have. so here it is. and this is as of now wit what ive done to it.

87 s4 motor with minor bridgeport and s5 rotors from a 91
stock injectors(440's) but i have 550's that im going to be installing sometime soon
stock plug wires, getting upgraded soon
walbro 255, currently uninstalled. i was told it already had on in it but i was lied to about much on the ol fc.....
tomei fuel pressure regulator, about to get replaced with a circuit sports one
pacesetter header with high flow cat, uninstalled
2.5" straightpipe exhaust
tii alum hood
found some flash-to-pass lights
random gauges(still need to install oil psi switch as well)
an assload of stickers lol(DRIFT STATUS HAHA)
factory intake piping with some random autozone filter on it. i was going to try to find a stock airbox and use a k&n drop in filter, but i dont have the ram air ducting or the radiator shroud.
i also have a jacobs rotary power pak that im going to be installing one of these days when i do the rest of the uninstalled mods.
*i also just installed my d2 coilovers a couple weeks back with the front and rear upper strut tower bars*

Unless you're running an electric fan you'll still need the radiator shroud to use with the clutch fan to direct the air for efficient cooling.

How you find out it had s5 rotors? I had a feeling it did.

I wonder how it gets to 8300 rpm though, my s4 na had a rev limiter at 8000. Maybe not all rx7s came with one.

The s5 has such higher rev limit, either 8500 or 8600, with the red line starting at 8000.

Well I'm glad you took the time to figure it all out.

Its always a goof idea to know where your cars been so you can decide what you need to do to it.
