new guy from KY

Well my name is Bob, 23 years old, and I decided that I needed a rotary powered car. so I bought a 1st gen for $500 as a project car. I love wrenching on cars and other stuff so it gives me something to do in my spare time. as I have never worked on a Wankel engine I'm gonna need some help. my goal is to restore the car to stock with few exceptions like the dash, brakes, suspension, exhaust, and a nice stereo. aside from working on cars my other hobbies are music, hunting, and fishing.

welcome. I too have done the same thing got a rotary engine and had to relearn how an engine should really run. I blew one up and so it gave me a chance to disassemble one apart and see how it really works, your in for a treat when you get into you rotary.

yeah figured it should be fun. i'm already gonna be in it for a engine. previous owner swapped in a 13b but carbed it. i guess they didn't know how to treat it and carbon locked it. my friend claimed he knew how to free it up but instead broke the balancer bolt off. so i'm going back to stock with a 12a.

and i guess you're right. beggars can't be choosers. the price was right and the car isn't in that bad of shape for being 33 years old. has a dent in the front bumper, needs a new coat of paint, and one spot of surface rust on the hood. the interior is like new which is a big plus for me and it has a brand new set of 205/65r13's on it just has some miscelanious stuff that i want to take care of on the inside. the seats were custom reaphoulstered, and the shifter got swapped for a cheapo short throw. gonna find some original seat material or the whole seat, and i'm gonna try to get ahold of a oem shifter and ****. the only interior bit im gonna change is the stereo. i think i'm going to put a retro sound radio in and update the speakers, no whoofers or nonsense like that though.
