My name is Dylan and come Saturday I'll be a new proud owner of my first RX7! I'm 16 and have been looking for a car for some time now. I came across a posting for a 1985 RX7. I went to see it with my dad this weekend and he's agreed to let me buy it! I think it's a gs, or whatever the base model was. I'm getting it for $1000, and I am so pumped about it. I can't wait until my dad let's me drive it daily. First I need to learn how to drive a stickshift :/ and on top of that there are a few fixes the car needs before he deems it safe. First the brakes go almost all the way to the floor, dad says it's a simple master cylinder problem, and the speedometer cable is loose or something (in our test drive it said we hit 140 ;]) but one thing he's not sure about is the play in the steering. Would that be an easy fix? How should we go about identifying that? I can't wait to get involved in this community.
