New Guy!!!

Hey all,

I am new to this forum.

About 8 months ago my boss purchased a 1984 Rx-7 GSL-SE with 14,000 miles on it that hadn't been driven since 1991. We put a new fuel tank with pick up tube and sender and also replaced the brake master and clutch master. Everything else is original equipment. Original paint with a couple dings and one gouge, about an inch and a half, in the front passenger fender. It runs and drives like brand new.

In September, my boss lost his battle with cancer, leaving his wife and I to figure out what to do with it.

That's what brought me here. We are trying to sell it but have no idea how to sell it or what a good price would be to ask.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dustin

Looks like you have a very nice survivor there. I don't need to tell you that 14K milage is pretty low which is great but sometimes causes other problems from lack of use. Sounds like you have already addressed those issues by replacing the fuel tank and brake components. GSL-SE's (also known as five letter cars) are perhaps the most valued version of 1st generation (79-85) Rx-7's due to the increased horsepower, braking and suspension upgrades. Prices vary greatly depending on condition, but this car looks exceptionally nice and you indicate that it runs and drives well. That in my opinion, would put the value at the higher end of the curve.

I'd say you should be able to get low to mid teens for it, maybe a little more. A compression check with a rotary compression tester would help verify the engines integrity. You can place an ad on the forums here or eBay or a speciality magazine like Hemmings. I think that Bring a Trailer (BaT) have recently been the best place to get the most for a nicer condition car like this one. You can also search previous BaT auctions for GSL-SE's to get an idea of what cars have recently sold for.

With BaT, it helps to have some thick skin because it also provides potential buyers a chance to ask questions and give feedback. With the ways that some people like to behave on social media, that can be good and not so good.

What a gorgeous car!! Its absolutely stunning in every regard!! That's a true gem right there. BAT (Bringatrailer.com) is likely where you will get the most for the car. Expect a fair amount there as many collectors with money buy and sell there. Shame it's not something you are able to keep and enjoy. Shame about your boss losing his battle with cancer. Very sorry to hear about that. Sounds like you guys were friends.
