New GSL-SE Owner
Hi everyone. My name is John and I just bought my first RX-7.
My wife turned 40 last year and wanted a convertible, so we bought a '99 Miata for our fun car. Being our 3rd vehicle, it only comes out in nice weather and will live a pampered life with us. I had forgot how much fun a sports car was to own after far too many years of sedans, SUVs and minivans.
With my 40th birthday fast approaching, I decided to add a 4th vehicle to our family. After contemplating lots of available options, I finally settled on one of my all-time favorite sports cars...the FB GSL-SE. I started looking for a pampered, all original car with low miles. Unfortunately everything I found was either thrashed or way overpriced.
I ended up buying my silver '85 with 134K miles and 40K on a new motor. Car was dirty and needs some TLC, but at only $1500 I decided to take a chance on it. The car is completely stock with a very good interior and drives surprisingly well. It also came with a bunch of maintenance records going back almost 20 years.
Started cleaning it up this week and have been very happy to find the car in overall good shape. Goal is to give it a mild restoration and looking forward to having a fun winter project to tinker with.
