New to forum. RX-7 lover x 27 years
My name is Kimberly. I have owned my RX7 gsl-se for 27 years. I would love to show my beloved RX7 in classic car shows. I have been told that my car is not a classic car. Any thoughts on this?

Welcome, Kimberly!
In my opinion, it should be considered a classic car, but may not be quite to that point for some shows to consider "classic". You might check other car shows or look for something that is may be Mazda-specific.
Often, it isn't just age of the car or how rare it is, but also how it influenced designs of other cars and what impact it had on the automotive market in determining what a car show may consider "classic".
You might start with car shows that aren't directed specifically at "classic" cars. You may find shows put on by local car clubs, county fairs, etc. that you may be able to do. I think we will see the GSL-SE as a real classic someday, but we may have to give it more time.

Hi Kent,
Thanks for the info. I am new to showing cars, but I do consider the RX7 gsl-se a classic. I have had my generation 1 for 27 years and I plan to keep it. Maybe one day we will see them officially considered "classic".
Thanks
Kimberly

Google tells me that something is classic if it is "judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind." I, by no power ever vested in me by anyone, do judge the FB RX-7 to be of high quality (heck, everything works on my 28 year old SE just fine) and to be an outstanding example of a sports car. I have made this judgement in the past, and it holds fast, thus meeting the "over a period of time" requirement.
Boom, it's a classic!
