New FD Owner in SoCal!
Well, it took a while, but I finally tracked down an FD that looked like a good starting place for a project for me.
I'm coming from a '97 Mustang Cobra, so it's quite a change for me! The FD's have always been a car that I've been interesting in, timeless design, and pretty quick for such a tiny motor! I've got lots of experience on piston engines, but I'm not sure how much of that will translate, my Cobra made a tick over 600hp to the rear wheels. It was running a turbo (Precision GTS 76mm) / MegaSquirt combo that I built and tuned myself (along with the harness, which I created).I'm a pretty crappy driver, but I did manage to get it to go a 11.20 @ 133mph in the 1/4.
I'm planning on keeping the FD as stock (factory) as possible, it already has Eibach springs, Tokico adjustables, and a Trust exhaust on it. When I got it, it had a coolant leak (so I've replaced the AST with a Tri-Point aftermarket one), and replaced the oil pressure sender, which was causing the gauge to frequently read zero...yikes!!! I've also put on a factory rear-spoiler, replaced the front lip with a factory R1 lip, and put on some 18" wheels and new tires. (I'll post the new pictures in the 3rd Gen FD pix thread!)
I'm working on the sound system now, which was non-op when I got the car (lots of buzzing, and speakers not working). I'm really looking forward to tinkering with this thing, and this looks like a great place to learn about these great cars!!!
Here she was before I got her!
And the two together before the Stang had to go
And the stang...gonna miss her...

Thanks Chris! I hear ya on the wing, I actually considered the 99spec, but I've always liked the more subtle looking stuff, so ended up going with the R1 wing.
