New FD owner from Japan
I'm Mike Lawrence, 22, originally from Atlanta, Ga. I am in the US Air Force stationed in Tokyo, Japan. I recently purchased my first RX7. It's a 93 FD3S. I love it and I'm going to try to keep it as long as possible and hopefully bring it back to the states with me one day. I hope to learn a lot about these cars and the rotary engine on this forum. Here are some pictures of my FD.

Welcome Mike,
Since you are near Tokyo, I am going to assume you are stationed at Yokota. I used to live there as a kid.
Given that you are in Japan, you have great access to parts via Yahoo auctions. If you have not done so already, befriend someone that lives off base and hopefully can read/write Japanese or has a Japanese spouse. They could really help you acquire parts from the site.
Also, I would recommend that you read about "reliability mods" in the 3rd gen forum. I see you have a stock Air Separation Tanks (AST) (something that probably should be replaced).
It might take a little time before you can bring an FD back to the states (25 year rule) legally. You will find many that live in the "grey market", but not the route I want to take. If you have not done so already, I would advise that you join zeroyon, as there are many users on that site that have experience shipping cars, and parts, back stateside.
Congrats on your pickup.

Hey,
I just joined the forum too. Pretty cool you're in Japan. I have auction documents from my car I'd love if someone could make sense of. I'd scan and email them to you hah!

Thank you all for the positive feedback! I will take all of your help into consideration. Yes I am in the Air Force stationed at Yokota. I love it here. I do want to do a lot of work to the car but then again I don't know if I can take it back with me so I don't want to waste a lot of money on modifications. Hopefully I'll get to go to Germany next like I want to and I can definitely bring it there and then back to the US.

BanzaiMike, as a military service person, you should be able to bring it back duty free as long as the car can be made to conform to saftey, bumper, and emission standards here in the US. The work seems to need to be done and certified either before being shipped, or it has to be done before customs will release it. Found the info here: Importing a Motor Vehicle - CBP.gov . Might be something worth looking into.
