New FC Vert Owner in Charlotte, NC .

Hey guys my name is Mike and I've been visiting this forum on and off for about a year.
My story with rotaries begins as this, at first I hated FC's. Where I used to live I'd never seen one and the only ones I thought were decent were the FDs. Then one day my friend picked up a 1988 White RX7 FC convertible. I instantly fell in love with the look of the car. A few months after owning it, he got fed up with it, it wouldn't start and everytime it cranked white smoke poured out. He kept giving it gas while starting it. He left it at my friends house one day, so I said lets try and start it. I ended up successfully starting it after messing around for a while. I then texted him and asked if I could cruise around in it for the day, he said yes. And omg, the second I started driving it I knew I need one. It felt completely different from anything I've ever experienced. I asked if he wanted to trade for my slammed nissan hardbody at the time, and he said yes. I asked to drive it around for a few more days. All in all the deal fell through and I didn't get an rx7.

Just recently I sold my modded Volvo 850 turbo. I was searching craigslist for an FC as I've wanted with no luck. Then one day a post came up, 1988 RX7 Vert, white, exactly the same as the one before. I drove an hour and half to check it out. At first I didn't like it too much, but I couldn't get it out of my head for the next couple of days. I offered the guy. And just yesterday I picked up my 1988 FC vert!

I'm nervous about owning the rotary, but excited at the same time. The car does need some work, but it's all interior work. The body is clean and the engine has 95k on the rebuild. 196k on the shell. It has a new clutch, 4.11 rebuilt rear end with welded diff, mazdatrix driveline, RB header, 3" all the way back to a muffler. ALso now has poweredbymaxx coilovers, drag wheels, and 8k hids in glass housings. The top is pretty rough and so is the interior, but pretty much everything works! Except the a/c module. I have a couple nasty exhaust leaks too which are making everything just smell like burnt gas and I sware it makes me feel like crap when I drive it.

I still have a few questions about owning one and am still really nervous having it as a DD, but I figure it will pass with time. Im going to work on making it a sort of DD/ weekend drift fun car. Any input on what to do to take good care of it is appreciated! Thanks for looking! I only have one pic, but more will come

Thanks guys! Yeah I had the choice between a streetported gtu and this. And I went with this just because I love verts. A widebodied one would be AWESOME!
