MO New FC pwner with V8 intentions.

Hi my name is Derek and I am from Kansas City. I just bought a RX7 that is in rough shape. I have a weakness for how these cars look when done right in the looks department. This is my first rotary and it seems to have its quirks (warmed up car stalls in cold weather). My 7 is GT35R'd, but I feel like just a bolt on LSx series motor would out do it and be 10x more reliable. I am on here just to make up my mind for which path to go. Here is a picture of the car next to my friend's Supra (which I kept up with till 130 before it pulled).

Yeah you're right about sacrilegious... I think the idea of Rotary is awesome, but it definitely needs some more R&D in my opinion. How was the wiring after getting the engine in the chassis?

Good looking cars... I like the angle on the exhaust tips on the rx7.

Don't forget the effect the extra weight will do to the feel of the car.

I put a v8 in a 260z and although it was only 60 kg heavier it changes the original feel the car had.

If your car is allready a TII a 4g6x swap using a wideblock bottom end would be another option. Its the route I plan to go.

I'm guessing you used an older iron block motor? LSx motors are surprisingly light.

There doesn't seem to be too much information on that swap, plus in the Midwest there are A LOT of people who wrench on LS series motors. Anywho good luck with your swap!

Yes, I agree. Seems like most of their builds are very cleanly built. I will probably join that form if I do decide to do the V8 route.

I didn't just sign on this forum to just research Rotaries... If I do decide to go the piston route, I will sell my current setup on here.
