New FC owner is Chas, SC
Had a really good friend during my time at Clemson that had an FC convertible. He died in 2007 from a rare leukemia that he caught too late at 23. Found this FC on craigslist and looked at it. Here's the info that came with it:
1988 Mazda RX7 Convertible
First owner
82,330 miles
Black exterior / grey int
5 speed
great condition
runs well - just drove it today
full manual included along with targa top case
new transmission replaced at 75k
new fuel injector
new battery
new alpine 6 speaker cd fm/am system
new michelin tires at 80k
all electrical & gauges working great
cold ac
paint is in good condition
no rust
convertible top in great condition
current on maintenance, inpections, oil, etc
Repairs needed:
by-pass air control valve may need to be replaced (only affects idle occasionally)
seats are leather, but worn out in seat cushions
Wrecks:
no major wrecks
was "bumped" once in rear (5mph) - bumper was replaced
small dent in driver side door
Within a week the wipers came on and wouldn't go back off. My guess is the wiper relay is stuck open. The top then quit going down, would beep but not go down. The idle air control valve is also crap, car idles like it's cammed. Recently I noticed the diff fluid ticks after driving it and smells burnt.
Other than seemingly falling apart, the car is great! Is up to 84k now and it's already top down weather here in SC.
Some pics when I got it.
The cool bit of history is that the owner was one of the original guys that developed the PC for Apple way back in the 1980's. The FC was the first thing he bought with his PC money. Still had the window sticker listing the car at like $27 in 1988. Guy has like a $2 million house on the Isle of Palms.
Painfully slow, but a fun car. Thanks for looking!
