What's up everyone!

This is both my first carb and rotary car, so I have a lot of learning to do. I hope I can get this one back to good running shape with the community's help!

Story:
I have recently inherited an '85 FB. Its in poor shape externally, but it's been a southern car (Georgia) all its life, so I don't think there is any serious cancer going on. The engine is clean, no sign of coolant or oil leaks from what I've seen. I've yet to climb under the car and give it a really good inspection.

She has 106k, original 12a engine and what appears to be a rebuilt carb. I filled her with a bit of 87 octane and she started right up, but the idle was very low and she would stall out. Eventually, I was able to keep her alive long enough to pull the choke and get a solid warm up going. There was quite a bit of smoke!! That subsided as the motor warmed up. When the choke popped back in, the idle went up to about 600-700 rpm. A few quick revs to 3000 rpm and there feels like mis-firing going on as she hesitates going up and coming back down the tach.
