TX New Convert

Hi! My name's Angie and I'm from a small city near Houston. I've been a Mustang and Z-Car person forever but recently became interested in RX7s. I'd prefer an FD, but I'm considering the benefits to an FC as well.

I don't currently own one, which is why I'm here. Mostly I'm doing as much research as I possibly can through others' experiences and posts. I just want to know what I'm working with, differences in year models and what changed between the years, what to look out for, common issues...just preparation stuff. I'm getting help from my guys, but you can never have too many resources.

Right now I have an '06 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, a ' 95 Ford F-350 PowerStroke CrewCab Longbed, and a '75 Datsun 280Z 2+2 project (on which I'm quickly giving up. Second Z and bigger problem). I miss having a car to just *drive*. Some places just aren't appropriate for my other vehicles and I miss shifting gears!

Other stuff...um...I'm a 9th grade English teacher (feel free to send consolation gifts of chocolate and cash). I'm happiest when I'm outdoors fishing, hunting, or just roaming. I wish I were a mermaid. And I'm a little wordy. I'll try not to do that here - again. I guess that's it.

I hope to learn a lot from all of y'all and hope to make an informed decision on how to spend money I probably shouldn't spend but can't seem to stop myself from doing it anyway.

Angie, I actually prefer a wordy introduction especially when it reads easily and isn't riddled with "alot" of common spelling errors like I normally see. That's an interesting stable of vehicles you have there for a 9th grade English teacher and quite impressive. So what exactly has made you decide to take a peek into the rotary world or is it an RX-7 that's caught your fancy? I'm guessing you're thinking the last generation of RX-7, the almighty FD, is what would be the ticket for just "driving" around but I hasten to add that the 1stgen RX-7 is lighter, closer to a go kart and can take the FD's engine with a small amount of work.

I personally prefer the 1stgen RX-7's, I've got a couple myself and it's the only generation I've dabbled in all this time.

Thanks for taking the time to register and welcome to RX-7 Club!

^^ What 7 said. LoL!

Yes, of course I prefer the bodylines of the FD, but I'm still shopping.

The short story is that there were a couple of things about the rotaries that caught my eye and now I've developed an appreciation for the engineering and styling.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to be here!

Thanks, gixxert. I made a bad career decision is really all it amounts to. The pay isn't bad - I call it hazard pay - but no one outside of the classroom seems to remember that we exist to educate children, not vie for funds or do whatever it takes to make the school look better. I guess I'll just have to come to terms with the fact that I'll never be a veterinarian writer princess actress millionaire.

But I love to learn, which is why I'm here. Rather than bug 7 with all my questions and asking him to explain stuff (with which he is incredibly patient), I was hoping I could make myself a little more self sufficient and teach myself some new things.
